Last year the United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) implemented the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (“CFAP”), with sign-up ending December 11, 2020. The program provides direct financial relief to producers (including legal entities such as corporations and limited liability companies) of agricultural commodities who were impacted by market disruptions because of Covid-19.  As of April 5, 2021, the USDA opened it back up and began taking applications for the CFAP-2 program to provide continued relief. Traditional commodities, such as corn, wheat, soybeans, along with many other obscure commodities, are eligible for the program. Each commodity has a different relief structure, so a producer would need to check the website to determine the payments available. Currently there is no deadline, but that could change at any time, so apply today.
